Chesapeake Women’s Network Reveals
New Web Site and Scholarship Application

A wise man once said that the only constant in life is change. Well, the women of the Chesapeake Women’s Network know it all too well!

“Every year we move forward, but just recently we’ve experienced some real growth”, stated 2005-2006 President, Sandra Early of Early Studios. Early goes on to explain that while the membership is going strong, she’s not talking about a growth in numbers.

Last year’s President, Eva Stoops of Chesapeake Environmental Labs put an upgrade of our website into motion and Ms. Early continued that effort. With the help of Jean Marie Richardson of The Digital Architects in Stevensville, the site was expanded to include information on CWN’s history, the membership application, an event calendar, the monthly newsletters, plus other helpful pages. Ms. Stoops noted that, “Not only is it useful, but The Digital Architects did a great job with the design aspect of it. It’s very professional, with a touch of flair. Just like the women of CWN!”

You can also find a link on the site that directs you to a newly revised Scholarship Application. CWN Board Member, Pat Morris with The Denbeigh Group agreed to chair the Scholarship Committee for 2005-2006, but before she made any plans to raise funds for the scholarship, she took on the daunting task of developing selection criteria as well as updating the application.

“So many applicants were denied in the past due to the fact that they hadn’t filled out their application correctly or completely. The goal was to create a form that guides the applicant and gives them a check list to eliminate any confusion,” Ms. Morris explained. “I think Pat accomplished that goal hands-down,” interjected Ms. Early. “She did her homework and created an application along with outlining the scholarship application process. Her effort produced an efficient system for both the applicants and for the committee that reviews the applications.”

The Chesapeake Women’s Network scholarship mission is to “empower those economically and socially disadvantaged women in Queen Anne’s County who are pursuing secondary education as a means of advancing their careers, changing careers or returning to the workforce and improving the socio-economic conditions for themselves and their families.  CWN does this by providing scholarships to empower and enable these Queen Anne’s County women to do so.” The deadline for submission is March 31, 2006 and you can download the application online.
